If you haven’t heard yet, the FDA has initiated the removal of the “black-box” warning on many menopausal hormone-replacement therapies (HRT).

For years, the black-box warning has scared many women and clinicians away from considering this powerful therapy, depriving women of its benefits.

Research has since proven that these therapies can be very effective for treating symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, vaginal/urinary changes, brittle bones, cardiovascular disease, dementia and painful sex.

Why suffer any longer?

If you’ve been wondering about HRT and whether it is right for you, then use the questions below as a conversation starter with your healthcare provider. This is the perfect opportunity for you to partner with your doctor, take control of your health narrative and create the best possible future for you.

  • Since the guidelines and warnings have changed, can we discuss whether HRT is appropriate for me?

  • Based on my age do the benefits of HRT generally outweigh risks?

  • What are the benefits vs. risks based on my personal and family history eg. heart disease, breast cancer, blood clots, dementia, etc.

  • I’ve just been diagnosed with osteopenia/osteoporosis; will HRT help me?

  • How might HRT help my specific peri/menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, sleep, mood, energy, sexual health, brain fog)?

  • Are there long-term health benefits for women who start HRT earlier in menopause e.g., bone health, heart health, cognitive function?

  • What type of hormone therapy would be safest and most effective for me: oral, patch, gel, pellet, or local vaginal estrogen?

  • Will I need be monitored while I am on the therapy?

  • How long do I stay on HRT?

While HRT can be a powerful tool, it may not be right for you.

The good news is that having a healthy lifestyle and a strong body is fundamental to life-long health. Lucky you, this is where we can help!
